View Action Alert on EPA's Draft Watershed Assessment

Peer Review Meeting August 7-8, 2012

Overview:
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the peer review panel will meet August 7-9, 2012 in Anchorage. August 7 will be dedicated to public testimony, however, pre-registration is required. The public will be allowed to observe only, on August 8, but must be preregistered. The meeting on August 9 is closed to the public.

A maximum of 100 members of the public will be selected to speak. To register, speakers will be asked to select one of eight categories listed below to offer brief comments:

• Mine scenario and operational modes;
• Potential failures and probabilities;
• Hydrology;
• Toxicity;
• Potential effects on Alaska Native culture;
• Potential effects on fish;
• Potential effects on wildlife;
• And, other issues.

Advanced registration to attend and/or speak is required by July 23. Meetings on August 7 and 8 will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. on both days. Meetings will be held at the Dena’ina Center.
